Free Floating Ornament Insert SVG/DXF File
I’ve had a lot of people asking/looking for these inserts to make floating ornaments so I am posting files with several different sizes. If you do not know what a floating ornament is, your design is applied to a clear plastic insert which causes it to appear as if it is floating inside the ornament.
5 inch disc ornament, plastic, brand Artminds–Purchased at Michaels
4 inch round ball ornament, plastic, brand: Crafter’s Square–Purchased at Dollar Tree
4 inch disc ornament, plastic, brand Artminds–Purchased at Michaels
3.15 inch disc ornament, plastic, brand Artminds–Purchased at Michaels
2 5/8″ round ball ornament, glass, brand Mission Gallery–6 pk–I don’t know where I purchased these.
Update: I had someone contact me who had downloaded the files and reported to me that the 3.15 insert for some reason uploaded to Design Space and it was 10″ instead of the correct proportions. I have tried to duplicate this error but it does not happen when I upload the file, so…I am giving you the dimensions here, just in case this happens to anyone else.
The 2 5/8″ round Mission Gallery ornament insert should be 2.3″ W x 2.668″ H
The 3.15 Disc Michael’s ornament insert should be: 3.1″ W x 3.249″ H.
The 4″ Round Dollar Tree ornament insert should be 3.717″ W x 4.121″ H.
The 4″ Disc Michael’s insert should be 3.817″ W x 4.121″ H.
The 5″ Disc Michael’s insert should be 4.74″ W x 4.978″ H.
See below for more information on where to buy the clear plastic sheets used to cut these inserts.
Here are two examples of ornaments I have made. The first one is a very simple ornament but it turned out very cute!! I used a 2 5/8″ glass ornament for this.
(please excuse the pics, these are very hard to get a good picture without the reflection blocking the design!)
The second picture below is of an ornament I made for one of my employers, it is part of their company logo with her name in it. It is difficult to tell from the picture but I used one of the 4″ disk ornaments from Michaels.

I used the Grafix Dura-Lar Clear .005 Film. This is the same film used for overhead projectors.
Amazon carries it as well as Michael’s.
For settings on your Cricut, turn the dial to “Custom” and you will find a setting for Transparancies in the list. This is the setting I used to cut the inserts.
